Inspections

While you watch the video screen, The Chimney Doctor can scan the inside of your chimney to ensure that there are no cracks or missing mortar joints and that the construction is not faulty.
Dampers
A damper is a device that seals your fireplace shut when not in use. This is necessary so that heated air from your home will not escape up the chimney when the fireplace is not being used. An inefficient, warped or damaged damper can cause all kinds of problems. If it won't open fully or shuts during burning, you'll have a house full of smoke! If it fails to seal, the result can be a cold draft on your feet and a loss of your home's heat, enough to cost over $300 a year. The Chimney Doctor can provide and install a new, energy-efficient damper that can entirely handle these problems.
Chimney Caps
Without a chimney cap, you have a large "hole in your roof" allowing rain, birds and critters to enter your home. We install quality chimney caps with a lifetime warranty. Every chimney needs a cap!
Waterproofing
Water can deteriorate your brick, especially with the freeze/thaw cycle that occurs in Mid-Michigan. We use the highest quality water repellent, specifically developed to protect masonry chimneys. This product has a 12-year warranty.
